Using the Service Desk module to manage employee service requests

The service desk module makes it easy for your employees to request various HR services from one place. It also makes administering services much more efficient than emails. In this article, we will explore how you can set up the service desk module.

Setting up service types

Service types are a great way to categorize your HR services and make it more comprehensive for employees when they request for services. To set up a new service type, navigate to Service Desk -> Configuration -> Service Types and click on Create. In the form, enter a name for the service type, description, and service category. Each service type you set up in this manner will appear in the Service Desk -> My Request -> New Request dashboard for employees to raise new requests.

Depending on the modules you have enabled in your account, there are a few standard service categories such as Time Off Encashment, Employee Loan, Accrual Payout, and Skip a Repayment. For service types that other than the standard categories above, please set the service category as Miscellaneous.

For HR services that require an approval process, tick the Approval Required checkbox.

In the Users to Notify section, enable any team members who must be notified when an employee requests for this service type.
